The Norton Animal Rescue Foundation was established in 2010 by Gary Edwards, in memory of his pet dog who passed away on April 13th of that year...
Gary made a promise to his beloved pet, to actively engage in animal rescue work, and save his furry friends in his name...
Since that day, Gary has been involved in rescue work and animal aid throughout the World, helping both individuals and organisations alike, to bring about changes, and ultimately, striving to make this World a better place for all animals.

In October 2010, he travelled to the Far East, visiting the 'AKF' Animal Kingdom Foundation rescue centre, where dogs saved from the illegal Dog Meat Trade, are homed and cared for. He now works on a volunteer basis for this charity, and promotes their work in various ways..from writing books, to appearing on TV and Radio, to highlight the work that they do...Gary is passionate in his fight to eradicate the trade in dog and cat meat, primarily in Asia, and the Animal Kingdom Foundation, which was set up by Charles Wartenberg - Founder of The International Wildlife Coalition Trust, is a charity that is close to Gary's heart. As he always says..."Dogs and Cats are companion animals..They are not food & their loyalty to humans demands the respect and compassion that they deserve"
Please see the page entitled 'Animal Kingdom Foundation' for more details of the work undertaken by Charles and his team in the Philippines...

Gary initiated the recent case involving 'Borko' and family in Bulgaria.
Borko is a crippled dog who lived a miserable life as a stray puppy. One day he was brutally beaten, and this beating snapped his spine. Stray dogs are considered by some individuals to be nothing more than vermin, and therefore they are subjected to horrific abuse. Local Doctor George Litov saw this poor puppy crawling in agony on the streets in his village, and scooped him up in his arms, to take him to the safety of his home. Dr. George now cares for 'Borko', dressing his wounds, changing his nappies, and showering him with love.
In May 2013 this poor dog was sat outside the Doctors home, when a mob of villagers, angry that the Doctor was looking after a disabled dog, attacked 'Borko', and he was beaten yet again, unable to escape due to his disability. Upon witnessing the footage showing 'Borko' being attacked, Gary was infuriated, and so he began planning the mercy mission, and together with Michelle Jones from K-9 Rescue (Bulgaria), and Gavin and Andrea Gamby-Boulger from Wetnose Animal Aid, they headed off to visit Borko, joined by celebrity actress Lorraine Chase, and TV Presenter Wendy Turner Webster (Pet Rescue..etc), to ultimately bring about change and highlight the plight of stray animals. All details on this case, with
video highlights from this mission, are on the 'Borko-Crippled abused dog' section on
this website.

Gary has also been involved in various individual endeavours, such as helping highlight the case of 'Johanna' the Romanian dog, who was attacked and beaten so severely, her jaw was shattered, and sticks were forcibly inserted into her anus and mouth. Please see the page entitled 'Johanna-Beaten abused dog' for details. Gary also assisted the AMCF (Animal Medical Care Foundation) to raise donations for 'Srecko', an abandoned stray in Serbia, and Rex, abandoned in a disused factory with deformed legs. Gary also supports Nick Banayos in the Philippines. Nick was inspired by the work being done by both Gary and the Animal Kingdom Foundation, and has since saved, rehomed and looked after, many abandoned and needy dogs and cats in his care...

The latest campaign, spearheaded by Wetnose Animal Aid, is ongoing...
Together, the team comprising of Wetnose Animal Aid, Norton Animal Rescue,
K-9 Angels & celebrity guests travelled to Romania, to show the World what is happening to Romanian strays...Please see the Romanian page for details! A new celebrity team joined us for this mission, including the lovely Sam Fox & also Saffron Sprackling from 'Republica' band, as well as the lovely actress Lorraine Chase who was with us in Bulgaria, to ultimately become a voice for the many Romanian dogs that are being exterminated...

Adding their voices, and supporting the campaign, are the lovely Amanda Holden (Britain's Got Talent) & the wonderful Paul O' Grady. Amanda has voiced her concerns & has produced a short video, during her meeting with Gavin & Andrea (Wetnose). Available to view on the 'Justice for Romanian dogs' page.
Paul O' Grady, who is a passionate dog lover, has produced many animal related TV shows, and has voiced his support, after having recently been made aware of events in Romania. Thank you Amanda and Paul!
A very special thanks to actor Peter Egan - Patron for Animals Asia and many other charities, who has been a supporter of our campaigns in Bulgaria and Romania. Peter is one of the most passionate active voices, in our collective hopes and wishes, to bring about changes in all aspects of animal welfare. Peter very kindly narrated the Wetnose documentary film from the Romanian campaign.
Thank you my dear friend.

As Gary always says...
'If all animals could speak, surely all we would hear, are their cries and plea's for their own kinds suffering, at the hands of humanity'...

'Dogs have no concept of hate or revenge..only unconditional love. Strive to learn from them, as they truly are angels sent from above, to enlighten mankind, and to  teach humanity the true essence of unconditional compassion & love'
